Fundraiser Catalogs Come Home This Friday

This Friday starts our Club's Choice Fundraiser.  Third grade students will bring home a catalog and can start selling items right away.  Some of the great items include: lots of breakfast foods, delicious cookie dough, magazines, and holiday wrapping paper.  Students can earn prizes according to how much they sell. This fundraiser will allow us to buy some technology items for our new computer lab.  Thanks for helping raise money for this great cause!

Update on our New Classrooms

We found out that we will be into our new building and into our new classrooms the first week of November!  Our supplies and furniture will be moved the weekend before, and when students come back on Wednesday, November 4th they will be inside their new classroom.  It is beautiful and our construction crew has worked very hard to have it ready early.  Yaa-hoo!  The students are starting to count down the days (we are too!)

Habit 2: Begin With the End in Mind

Thanks to all the parents that were able to come to the Leadership Lunch.  All third grade classrooms had close to 100% attendance.  We appreciate you taking the time to come and learn about the 7 habits of leadership and how we are applying those in our classrooms.
This month we will dive deeper into understanding Habit #2: Begin with the end in mind.  This means to have a plan.  Students will be setting new goals for their learning and practicing ways they can plan ahead.  In our counseling class we have learned how to handle our emotions.  We planned ahead by practicing ways to calm ourselves if we are excited, worried, angry, or sad.  Kids THRIVE on a consistent schedule and it helps to know ahead of time what to expect so they have strategies to cope with the way they are feeling.

Below is a link that explains each of the leadership habits and ways parents can practice each habit at home.

Habit 1: Be Proactive

Image result for be proactive imageOur third grade classes have been learning how to BE PROACTIVE.  This means to take responsibility for our choices and behaviors.  We are learning how we can be in charge!  Throughout the month of September students will have one leadership lesson a week on ways to be proactive.  Part of being proactive is to stop and think before we act.  Our goal is to help students think about results before they decide what to do. Discussions at home could include taking care of themselves, taking care of their things, reacting or not reacting to others' behavior, planning ahead, and thinking about what the right thing to do is.
